Snippage Turns Any Webpage Into a Live Updating Desktop Widget

If you don’t like fumbling through a lot of browser tabs but want an easier way to keep an eye on a particular section of any webpage, try Snippage.

Snippage is a nifty little Adobe Air app using which you can take pieces of your favorite web sites and put them on your desktop. You can use Snippage to create  a “Snip”, drag a custom selection on any portion of the concerned webpage and then save the snip. The snip can be moved to any corner of your desktop,  helps when you don’t want to fire up your web browser just to check your email inbox, your twitter account or may be the latest stock prices.

Here is a view of  a “snip” from my desktop, I am using this custom “Snip” to post a tweet to my Twitter account as well as reading the most recent tweet from my followers:

Turn webpages into desktop widget

Snippage is actually a minimalist web browser which also accepts user logins. Hence, the tool will work with Gmail and Facebook account’s as well as can be used to save quick drafts on your blog, without having to open a full featured web browser. Simply put, Snippage is a live updating desktop widget for webpages.

Application for bloggers: You can use Snippage to quickly scan meme headlines e.g Techmeme, Tweetmeme or Digg. Every snipp can be saved for later use, hence there is no need to type the same address over and over again. If you are the type of person who loves posting breaking stories on your blog or elsewhere, Snippage can be a nice addition to your Windows7 gadgets sidebar.

Snippage is a free download, works with Windows, Linux and Macintosh computers. Worth a try !
